This year's fantastic Holiday Crafts magazine, put out by BHG, is full of adorable and inspiring projects as usual! And of course, there are my wee "snowbabies" on page 68! I made some of these last year as ornaments for my own Christmas tree, and they are so simple to make and so sweet.
The project on the page next to mine is a wreath made from powder puffs by Linda Solovic. So clever! I love Linda's whimsical work. There are tons of other fantastic artists in here, Magda Trzaski, Johanna Parker, Betz White, Jenny Hernandez, Hillary Lang, just to name a few! Cute, cute, cute. Go buy a copy and get making some fun stuff for the holidays!

Sorry to have vanished for a few weeks. I know I'm always apologizing for being in a blogging rut. Oh well…such is life. SO, back on track.
We have an abundance of butternut squash. It is one of the only things that did well in our garden this year. We've just been roasting it with some brown sugar and butter, which is mighty tasty, but is getting boring. So for the next couple of weeks, I'll probably be posting a bunch of butternut squash recipes, for lack of anything else terribly exciting going on in my life! First one is Butternut Bisque. I made this today for an old friend who was coming over for a visit. Paired with some crusty bread and butter, it was a pretty tasty lunch. The baby even had some. She was really into it, and she doesn't get too excited by food. I figured I shouldn't let her eat too much, since it has cayenne pepper in it. We could be paying for that later, if you know what I mean.
pardon that my bowl is a bit messy…clearly I am not a food stylist.
So, tomorrow, Butternut Squash and Sage Lasagna.
On another note, how have I been so out of the loop on the new Jane Campion film, Bright Star. I just saw the preview today. Swoon, swoon. This looks absolutely perfect. Just in time for Jay to take me out for my yearly birthday treat…forcing him to go see a girly historical drama. The only time he'll stray from the fart jokey comedy and the manly man action films. Truly, though, doesn't this movie look amazing? I'm such a sappy romantic. The costumes and the music and the cinematography…get me all teary-eyed every time. why am I admitting this? ok…moving on!
I want to thank everyone who bid on my animals! They were one of my favorite bunches and I felt kind of sad to see them go! But thanks again!

today is my little Clara's 3rd birthday. I can't believe it. She is starting preschool this week, too. I think I'm more nervous about the whole thing than she is. How the time has flown. It seems like this was just yesterday….
I am waiting for her to wake up from her nap and for her daddy to get home so she can open presents. Then it's cake later with her grandparents!
We had a party with her friends on Sunday, and Liz has a nice post about it with some cute pictures. Somehow I never can remember to take pictures while all the celebrating is going on!
